The Department Today:

The department offers a broad yet focused education in problem solving, analytical reasoning, and technical communication—skills that prepare cadets to tackle the complex operational, managerial, and technical problems that routinely challenge Air Force officers. The Operations Research major entails development and application of new quantitative modeling methods to solve real management and economics problems.

Curriculum:

The department offers 33 Mathematics and 5 Ops Research courses.
    Core Courses:
         Math 141 & 142. Calculus I & II
         Math 300. Introduction to Statistics
Math 243. Calculus III (Advanced STEM Choice)
Math 245. Differential Equations (Advanced STEM Choice)
    Majors:  Mathematics
         Applied Mathematics
         Operations Research (Interdisciplinary)

Noteworthy:

The Mathematics degree focuses on classical and modern mathematics while leaving flexibility for cadets to tailor a program that meets individual interests. The Applied Mathematics degree features a focused four-course interdisciplinary concentration coordinated with other departments. The Math Department chairs the Operations Research Steering Group, which coordinates the interdisciplinary Operations Research major (jointly administered by the Departments of Computer Science, Economics and Geosciences, Management, and Mathematical Sciences).
