The Department Today:

The department helps cadets understand the principles, capabilities, applications, limitations, and vulnerabilities of computer-based systems. The Computer Science major focuses on computer programming, software engineering, and computing theory. The major in Computer and Network Security focuses on computer programming, embedded systems, networks, telecommunications, computer systems, computer investigations, and cyber operations.

Curriculum:

The department offers 29 Computer Science and 4 Cyber courses.

Noteworthy:

The department is home to the Academy Center for Cyberspace Research, which conducts research in cyber warfare, information assurance, unmanned aerial systems, and cyberspace education. The department is a National Security Agency National Center of Academic Excellence in cyber operations and cyber defense education. Department members coach the USAFA Cyber Competition Team, which competes very well at the national level against other schools and teams from professional cyber organizations.
