Erwin Beardslee

37th Aero Squadron

Private First Class Erwin W. Beardslee served in the 37th Aero Squadron in France during World War I. His widow, Mrs. Lily V. Beardslee contributed his collection of newspapers printed overseas for servicemen assigned to the American Expeditionary Forces.

The Friends helped make the Beardslee collection available online by funding digitizing the newspapers.

"Erwin Beardslee, son of Mrs. Ora Beardslee of 34 Liberty street, Pontiac, is probably now somewhere in France. He enlisted in the Thirty-seventh Aero squadron, which was in training at San Antonio, Tex., and the last word his mother had from him was that he had embarked with “The Fighting Thirty-seventh” for the war zone."
